Diamond rings are one of the most popular choices in diamond jewelry. There are hundreds of settings and designs to choose from, and the size and color of diamonds are practically endless. Consumers can also choose to buy pre-made diamond rings or create their own.
Pre-made diamonds rings are stylish, elegant and there is a huge selection to choose from. The benefits of purchasing a pre-made diamond ring are that you can purchase the ring as soon as you find the one you want. There’s usually no waiting period, and availability is almost always a certainty.
Creating your own diamond ring also has some advantages; the most obvious one is that you can create the ring to look exactly the way you want it to. You can choose and design the setting, you can choose what type of metal you want it to be constructed of, and you can search around to find the perfect stone.
Of course, the best advantage to creating your own diamond ring is that it is a one of a kind master piece, and there is no comparing the joy the receiver will experience when you tell them that you created it yourself. There’s really only one drawback to creating your own diamond ring; the waiting period.
If you decide to create your diamonds ring, you’ll have to wait for the jeweler to make it. This could involve a few weeks or even a few months. If you’ve chosen a jeweler to make your diamond ring, or have narrowed the search down to a select few, ask how long it will take for your ring to be completed. That may help you decide which way you want to go.
The other difference between a pre-made ring and a custom-made one is the way the setting is created. Pre-made rings are casted; meaning the metal used to make it has been put in a cast to be molded. Some people believe this lessens the integrity of the setting making it more susceptible to damage. A custom-made diamond ring setting is considered a much sturdier and longer-lasting setting.
As you’ve probably come to see, there’s really no right or wrong answer to this question. Deciding whether you should purchase a pre-made diamond ring or create your own is really a personal choice. Consider the advantages and disadvantages of both and then decide for yourself.
Whether you’re looking for diamonds engagement rings, friendship rings, or some other type of specialty ring, you certainly have more than one option. Take a look at both options, see what’s out there, and then decide which option will best fit your needs. No matter which method you choose, as long as you’re happy with the final result, you’ve done well.
Diamonds have long been of public interest, especially when it comes to celebrities. A diamond ring on the finger of any public person raises eyes as to a possible engagement. This is because most people associate diamonds with engagements so a new diamond ring that has suddenly appeared on the hand of a beloved celebrity will instantly spark gossip of an engagement.
One such example is that of Miley Cyrus. The singer was recently seen wearing a large stone on her left hand during the Muhammad Ali Celebrity Fight Night XIII. This rock sparked rumors that perhaps her boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, presented it to her. She continued to show off the ring when she performed at the event, which raises money for Muhammad Ali Parkinson’s Center at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Drew Barrymore shared her feelings with a recent Anderson interview where she openly discussed her diamond ring and wedding plans. She said, “The thing that I think we’re the most excited about is … this will be such a nice year to do wonderful things together. We like to spend time with our friends anyway, so on the auspices of this kind of a celebration, even more heightened and wonderful. What a great adventure.” When asked about her dazzling diamond ring, she says, “It’s beautiful. “[Kopelman] picked it out and he’s just got lovely taste, and it’s really fancy. I’m sort of like funky, eclectic girl so I feel like this is very fancy and I’m trying to like, you know, feel comfortable with it.”
Britney Spears announced her engagement and even debut a new diamond ring to go with the news. The couple celebrated their December engagement with loved ones with a lavish Las Vegas party. They arrived via private jet and were greeted at Planet Hollywood in the usual VIP style. After a quick change of clothes, Britney and hubby-to-be dashed to their ring unveiling soiree where she showed off her 3+-carat stone designed by none other than Neil Lane. The Las Vegas trip was more than about just the ring. It was also Trawick’s 40-birthday so the couple, along with an entourage of friends, made their way to several clubs.
Not long after the death of her famed mother, Whitney Houston, came the engagement announcement that Bobbi Kristina was to wed her adopted brother, Nick Gordon. Bobbi Kristina has been seen wearing an enormous diamond ring. The couple has been spotted in various places appearing quite happy, however this union does not come with many happy blessings from Bobbi Kristina’s grandmother. According to Star Magazine, “Krissy has told her grandmother that she doesn’t need her blessing to marry Nick, and the more Cissy objects to the relationship, well that only cements Krissy’s decision. It’s just a very sad situation. Clearly, Krissy loves Nick, but she has just lost her mother, and her entire world has been turned upside down. Krissy doesn’t think she needs to wait, and points to her mom’s sudden death as the reason to marry Nick.”
“The Perfect Pink,” a flawless pink diamond, officially became the most expensive jewelery auction sale in Asia after bringing in a cool $23,165,968 million. An anonymous buyer emerged victorious from the cutthroat bidding war to claim the 14.23 carat prize.
The emerald cut pink diamond was nestled between a pair of D-flawless diamonds with a combined total of 3.40 carats. All three emerald diamonds were set on an 18k white gold ring band.
The diamond was the most expensive lot at Christie’s Hong Kong auction. A spokesperson from Christie’s called the Perfect Pink “a phenomenon in the world of gems,” partially due to the diamond’s perfect coloring and type IIa classification. Type IIa diamonds make up only one to two percent of the world’s natural diamonds. Many of the world’s most famous or sought-after diamonds are Type IIa for having virtually no impurities and an exceptional sparkle.
The fancy intense pink stone with VVS clarity was sold at Asia’s largest jewelery auction of all time. The diamond ring sold for four million more than Christie’s expected selling price, making it the most expensive gem ever to be sold in Asia. Many experts perceived the massive jewelery auction as an indication of the increasing Asian demand for luxury goods. They expect to see more luxury Asian auctions in the future, especially after the successful sale of the Perfect Pink.
While the Perfect Pink diamond ring was the largest jewelery sale in Asia, the diamond was still no match for the incredible $46 million record selling price of the 24.78 carat pink diamond “The Graff Pink,” bought by Laurence Graff in Geneva on November 15th, 2010.
