A leading international auction house of fine jewelry based in Toronto has announced that its upcoming Toronto sale and auction of jewels will feature the most valuable and rarest pink diamond ever to become available in the country.

Weighing a spectacular 10.11 carats, this conflict-free gem, discovered in the Argyle Diamond Mines of Australia, is among the rarest collectible items ever to be offered in the region. The auction value of the diamond has been set anywhere from $2.5 million to $3 million. The most expensive pink diamond ever to be sold was a 5 carat world record pink diamond piece that sold for the price of $10.8 million dollars in Hong Kong last December.

Colored gemstones are very desirable because of their exceeding rarity. Celebrity endorsements in the form of pink diamond engagement rings have made them even more desirable and chic. Carla Bruni, the model/singer and wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy sports a pink diamond engagement ring as well as Jennifer Lopez from the notorious Bennifer era, and Victoria Backham, the posh spice. It is however most probable that the fate of this spectacular gem will be set at a safety box or a secure safe once purchased.

According to this month’s Los Angeles Times magazine, geometric shaped diamond rings are the hottest new trend in wedding rings fashion for 2010. The architectural innovative cuts of the diamonds such as the teardrop, the oval, the marquise or even the heart-shaped diamond rings are the latest attention grabbers to hit the wedding ring market.

The ever-fashionable, trendsetter Victoria Beckham, who’s known to own a variety of engagement rings have been spotted sporting a geometric shaped  marquise cut diamond lately. The 6-carat diamond engagement ring embraced with a trillion on each side is known to have cost over 1.8 million dollars and is alleged to be an “I’m sorry I cheated on you” gift from hubby football pro David Beckham.

Luxury jeweler House of Borgezie is selling $160,000 diamond-studded stilleto heels that comes with a 1,000-year guarantee. Designed by Christopher Michael Shellis and crafted in Birmingham, England, the shoes have 2,200 diamonds soldered onto them, reports Shoeblog. They take 100 hours to make, and a replaceable red heart-shaped sole makes the shoes easy to maintain.

“I like archeology and love the idea of them being found somewhere 1000 years from now and recognised as an ancient treasure and still as good as the day they were made,” Shellis told the Australian Courier Mail.

Five pairs have been sold. One of the new owners is rumored to be Victoria Beckham.
