Just get them coated with diamonds!

Yes, you read right.

Scientists at the University of Alabama in the USA are working hard on developing replacement hips that are coated in diamonds as a way of preserving them for longer. Currently, replaceme

nt hips need to be looked at and possibly replaced every 10-15 years but with the new diamond hip technology, you won’t ever have to worry about that.

Scientists have until now, struggled with breaking down diamonds to small enough particles that would allow it to be applied onto the hip replacements without the ‘solid’ molecular structure being compromised. The breakthrough has been seen as something amazing that will revolutionise the healthcare industry however there are questions about affordability.

This is great news and it’s wonderful to see diamonds being used not just to make people look beautiful but to help maintain their health as well.

In 1988, when San Francisco Jeweler Sidney Mobell heard about a Monopoly Board Game Tournament in London, he was inspired to make a luxurious version of the famous boardgame, fashioned out of solid gold, diamonds and gemstones.

He requested and re

ceived permission from Parker Brothers, the makers of the board game, to create the masterpiece and spent an entire year crafting this work of art.

The dice alone is amazing with 42 polished diamonds for the dots (valued at about $10,000). The houses and hotels are made out of gemstones and the gold used for the set is 18K. The entire set however, is worth a very cool $2 Million!

Interestingly, when Mobell started working on the project, gold prices were between $360 and $460 per ounce. Current prices for an ounce of gold exceed $1300 per ounce!
